This Privacy Policy explains how Pem ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Pem mobile application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information: When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that identity provider.
- Content you submit: Text notes, voice memos, and photos you share with Pem to be processed and organized.
- Timezone and device information: Your timezone, used to surface timely reminders and organize your inbox correctly.
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: How you interact with the Service — features used, sessions, and general usage patterns — to improve reliability and performance.
- Push notification token: An Expo push token, if you grant notification permissions, used solely to deliver notifications to your device.
- Crash and error logs: Technical logs to identify and fix bugs. These do not contain the content of your notes or voice memos.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- Process your inputs (text, voice, photos) to extract tasks, organize your inbox, and generate responses using AI.
- Send you notifications about your inbox items and reminders, if you have enabled notifications.
- Respond to your support requests and communicate about the Service.
- Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security threats.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your content to train AI models for purposes other than providing the Service to you.
3. AI Processing
To provide its core features, the Service sends your content (text, transcribed voice, and image data) to AI model providers. This processing is performed on your behalf and subject to those providers' data processing agreements. Your content is used only to generate the organized output returned to you and is not used to train AI models for other users or third parties.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
Service providers
We share information with trusted third-party vendors who help us operate the Service, including:
- Clerk — identity and authentication management.
- AI model providers — processing your content to extract tasks and generate responses.
- Cloud infrastructure providers — hosting, storage, and database services.
- Expo / push notification services — delivering notifications to your device.
These providers are contractually bound to use your information only as directed by us and to protect it appropriately.
Legal requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, court order, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of others.
Business transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your information becomes subject to a materially different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from our active systems within a reasonable period. Some residual copies may remain in backup systems and will be deleted on routine rotation schedules. We retain certain records as required by law.

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Notifications
You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings. This does not affect your ability to use the Service.

9. International Transfers
Pem operates in the United States. If you use the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer.

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete, and the right to opt out of any sale of personal information.
